@Peter Jones - Questions about the article would be fine. But if you would have bothered to scroll up, you'd see that people were explicitly asking ME about questions not strictly related to the article (and it's not even my article). This is the COMMENT section. There is "Questions" place in this huge Community area, and…

How to I find JQL queries that is being used as filters/reports/gadgets for that old issue type? It looks like you're using Jira Server, so you can probably query the Jira database for filters to inspect the JQL there. Gadgets - maybe also in the DB (??), but vendor-added gadgets might get tricky. Maybe just wait until…

Before proceeding, I want to restate what I think you're trying to do... * You have an Epic with custom field that is set to a value. * You want all the child issues under that Epic to have that same value for that custom field. We also have to be aware that there are multiple ways an issue can end up as the child of an…

The native functionality in Jira will be fine when things are renamed -- things like multi-select drop-down menus (for Issue Type in your use-case). Anything custom coded is likely to break. This would include JQL or IQL (as in SIL), since specifying an Issue Type name in text is, in hindsight, brittle to renaming an Issue…
-
It's not pretty, but you can manually construct a URL using the issue id, and use the Jira REST API to look up the issue key. In Jira Data Center or Server, it would look like this: https://jira.COMPANY.com/rest/api/latest/issue/477825?fields=key In Jira Cloud I believe the URL would look like this:…

If you want to list all the Stories, and show the Epic Link for each one, that's easy. Add the "Jira" macro to your Confluence page, configure the JQL in the macro to identify the Stories of interest, and configure the macro to show the Epic link or name as a column in the results. If you want to list only the Epics (as a…

Normally the browser shows multiple areas in the column for each assigned status. Have you tried the action in another browser? Is your browser up-to-date? Do you have any browser plug-ins which might be affecting things? Are other users experiencing this problem too?

I'd start with something like this: Project = ProjKey AND Sprint in openSprints() AND statusCategory = Done This avoids having to name the sprint explicitly, but assumes you only have one Sprint started for the indicated Project at any one time. You might also experiment with this in a Jira Filter macro on a Confluence…

Again, I doubt those icons can be customized. Your best bet would be to connect with the Vendor (see my second hyperlink in my previous post). Maybe they know a way? I doubt it, but it's worth asking them.

I'm using Jira Data Center, so I can't give you a Jira Cloud tested solution. But here's how I would approach this... Start by querying the Jira API from your browser to see what the attributes are, and are named, for project Versions (aka Releases). Be logged into Jira in the browser. In Jira Data Center, this URL would…

I believe that anyone who has "View" access to Tempo worklogs will be able to generate reports (makes sense, if you think about it - if you can see the data, why not report on the data?). Documentation link. Tempo "reporting" doubles as a table-formatted web page for data entry. I doubt there's a way to remove the…
-
It would help to know what report you mean. Maybe include a screenshot, or the name of the report? Swimlanes in Jira are horizontal on Jira Boards, and Status values are mapped to (vertical) columns. "Testing" and "Ready for Production" sound like statuses/columns to me. Additional information would help us help you.

Have you tried using Jira Plan to update "all descendent issues"? It's a bit manual, but it is a "bulk" and hierarchical approach. And it's probably a good way to maintain the data going forward. The following screenshots are from the Data Center version of Jira. First, on the Initiative (Feature shown in our instance…

I answered another question recently with an approach that might be useful for you. Check it out here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/Confluence-Button-Macro-and-Issue-Collector/qaq-p/2535355

Your rule only performs the Log Work action when new work is logged on a Story, Task or Bug. The original 10 and 8 hours that were on the two Stories before you turned on this rule will not matter to this rule. The time you logged on the Stories after you enabled the rule worked fine, so your rule is working as…

There are Marketplace apps you can add to your Jira that will do "deep clone" operations like this. You can try most of them out for free to see how they work, and/or explore the documentation for each app to find one that matches your needs (and price point). Here's one that we use. Alternately, you can do a bit of "roll…

I wish I could remember the details, but I only remember being confused and frustrated about the inconsistency. My gut suggests it's just the way it is.

There are Marketplace Apps you can add to Confluence that will give you the ability to edit Jira data from within a Confluence page. But standard out-of-the-box Confluence doesn't (to my knowledge) include that ability.

Yup! In short: * Use an "Excerpt macro" with an embedded table of data on the pages with the info of interest. Note that the "Excerpt macro" doesn't show on the page, but the table does. * Put an "Excerpt include macro" on the page where you want to aggregate the data from the other pages. Documentation:…

Sounds like you are using Jira Automation? And you figured it out? For those playing along at home, the documentation is here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/automation/jira-smart-values-lists-993924868.html

I recently exported some of those dependency links to CSV also, and was confused by the results. Would love to hear someone clarify it, or get a pointer to some (Server/Data Center) documentation that explains what's going on there.

A common solution to this "shared namespace" problem is to come up with some naming standards. Using a prefix is a common approach. With your example: * letter-a * letter-b * letter-c * number-1 * number-2 * number-3 I'm fuzzy on whether CQL can wildcard label names. If not, then I'm not sure this will help you at all.…

You might explore using the Jira REST API to pull back Group member information. Jira Automation can use the "Send web request" action to make REST calls. You'll have to search for information about setting up the authentication credentials, which require creating a Personal Access Token (PAT), and then converting that to…

I have recently set up several teams with a Button on a Confluence page which brings up a "Create Issue" dialog in Jira. Users fill it out, and a new Issue gets added to the Backlog of a Project in Jira. You can do this with out-of-the-box functionality -- no Marketplace add-ons required (but some can be helpful, as…

Several initial thoughts here... * JQL conditions will be slowest; definitely use Field Conditions whenever possible. * The "Log action" rule component can really help when debugging rules. See below. * My tests were in Jira Data Center, not Jira Cloud. Your results may vary. * Sometimes Jira stores "time tracking" values…

Ah yes. I'm sure you've read the docs about the Version Report by now: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/view-and-understand-the-version-report/ Some things to confirm as you validate what it's showing you: * Are you excluding Sub-tasks in your numbers? * Are you also excluding archived…

Check that the "Request Details" field is available in the destination project (Project Settings > Fields). Also check that the "Request Details" field is configured for the desired Screen(s) in the destination project. Finally, confirm that the field is configured to show in "Board > Configuration > Issue Detail view".

SQL like the following might be helpful - experiment with this: type = sub-task and reporter in (person1, person2, person3)

You could search here (Jira Software / Server / Suggestions) to see if this feature has been suggested, and if so, vote for that change. That's worth doing, but don't hold your breath waiting for it to be fixed. They have a LOT in their backlog. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Another option to help avoid user error in this use-case would…

From the docs: Predicted sprints Predicted sprints are calculated based on your team's velocity* (amount of work completed in the last three sprints), and the total work remaining in your backlog. Scope change is not considered when calculating the velocity*, but is included in the total work remaining. More here:…
