It is also very helpful to look at the Scope Change report. Scrum Masters and coaches can use this report to help teams get to a consistent velocity. That shows when teams are getting new work added into their sprints. It happens (and the scope change report doesn't mean the same for a kanban team as it does a scrum team),…

See the most recent release notes. In order to separate some of the roles that the Super Admin had, there were additional configuration options. And we had Export set to off by default because we weren't sure how many companies were using it.

It seems the Feature Toggle for exporting was turned off. You can go back into Administration | Roles Pick the Super Admin role Go to Additional Options and search for "Export Stories/Tasks/Features" and turn it back on. You have to log out and log back in for it to take effect. Then you'll see the option in More Actions.

Thanks, @Shawn Kessler , I was going to propose @Corey King look at our BI solution too. If there's a need for custom reporting (and Corey has lots of great ideas), then using our BI solution with whatever visualization tool is available might be a great solution.

There are a number of different reports that show progress in the PI, and each support slightly different perspectives. There's the Program Increment Progress report, where you can look at burndowns or burnups for the story and feature level. Here you can drill into specific epics or teams, but it gives you an idea if…

Yes, you can connect Align to multiple Jira instances, whether they be Server, Data Center or Cloud versions. In this case, you need a separate Jira connector for each instance you want to synchronize with Align. You can combine data from the multiple instances into one single program or view them all separately. I worked…

@Tina Behers lays it all out. And if you don't see the "More Actions | Export " option, check with your Align administrator to have them give you the system rights to export work objects. Also, if you want to export all the work objects, make sure you haven't narrowed your context to a specific PI, and make sure you don't…

Check to make sure you don't have filters set in your backlog view; you can't rank the backlog when you're filtering out work objects. There are a couple ways to get to the Unassigned Backlog to rank items. It depends on what you set in the context bar. In the example below, I picked a program but no Program Increment, so…
-
@ytoeda The default ordering for the Roadmap is by program rank -- so the highest ranked items in the backlog are at the top and the lowest rank are at the bottom. However, you can change the ordering in the Roadmap by clicking in the Order dropdown. If you click "Date: Earliest Start - Latest Start", your items will be…

Once a sprint is marked as completed in Align, you can't make changes to it. But if you have the appropriate Team Role, can you reopen the sprint, add the stories, then complete the sprint again. Once you correct your synch issue (and there's a lot of great troubleshooting information…

External dependencies work great when you're trying to coordinate the work of vendors or partners. But they can also be used with other teams in your own organization when they're not yet using Align. You probably won't add every single team to Align all at once (nothing like a Big Bang approach to Agile transformation!)…

This is such a great article. I've seen teams put their Post-it notes up on the wall and lay all the things out, then they leave the room and all the planning they did stays right there on the wall. This shows how teams can use Jira Align to help them with their planning, and they can carry all that great planning into the…

Hey @Chris Jeggo thanks for this excellent writeup. I'm sharing this with a few of my colleagues so they can help their enterprises get prepared and make sure they have the right people (with the right knowledge) involved in the setup.

Abdel, I am an Align Solution Architect working a number of different clients and several of my clients have integrated multiple Jira instances with a single Align instance. This was one of the specific use cases Align was designed for, and allows a portfolio management team or executive strategy team to have a view of the…

@LarryBrock those gray bars are the scroll bars for each of the different iterations. It shows you where you can scroll down to see more items. You can see how the second column doesn't have the scroll bar because there are only two items, so there's nothing more to see. The bar is the first column is shorter than in the…

If you establish Themes and Initiatives in Jira Portfolio, they can be brought into Align in a one-time import. However, they're not kept synchronized after that import. This is typically something a Solution Architect or Align Partner can help you do in the initial integration. Jira Align synchronizes with Jira Software…

There currently aren't reports that work off tags. There are at least two options: 1. Export the Features from Align, and create your own reports in Excel or Numbers using pivot tables. 2. Leo, the BI database available with Align, would have this information. So you could use your own reporting tool (PowerBI, Tableau,…

I'm a Solution Architect in Atlassian, and we're using Align to plan and track our work on a quarterly and monthly basis. We're not traditional developers -- we work with clients to help them learn how to use Align to meet their specific needs -- but we still need to plan and track our work. We work as a kanban team, not…

Peter, you're right. There is an on-prem version of Jira Align available, but it's offered at a price premium. You should contact your EA about it.
