Hey @POTNURU SAI RAM The answer is dependent on which plugin you're referring to, as a small number of plugins will have an access control mechanism built in, but the most common answer is going to be no, you cannot limit who can see what plugins. Even if you did find a plugin that allowed you to limit it's use, you would…

Hey @[deleted] I'd suggest using the REST API and something like https://www.postman.com/ that allows you to provide a CSV list of the usernames you want to remove, and then Postman will iterate through each line and make the relevant REST API call for you…

Hey @P If you have direct DB access, this is a much more straightforward process - if so, MySQL/PSQL/MSSQL? However to start, how do you define "active"? We've struggled with this - if you're using Jira/Confluence etc as apps connected to Crowd, if you have say 10 users in Crowd (User1 , User2 ... User 10) and they're all…
-
Hey @srose1969 https://hub.docker.com/r/atlassian/crowd has some information about getting Crowd to run in containers as a starting point. CCM
-
Hey Andy, Crowd's license counts any user object that exists in Crowd, regardless of if they have application access (so it doesn't matter that 1000 people are JSD Customers, Crowd needs to be licensed for 1000 users, not just your 50 x JSD Agents). Sounds like you'll need to revise your Crowd license and move to 1000+…

Hey @Subbareddy Do you have any indications on your requirements? How many directories/users/groups/applications etc? Are you running a multi-node DC cluster? Do you expect N+1 redundancy? We run a fairly significant Crowd environment (~ 70000 users, 12000 groups, 25 external directories, 40 applications) on 2 x c5.2xlarge…

Hey Robert, Maarten's suggestion is definitely the approach I'd take, however if infosec have blocked REST API, then this isn't an option. I doubt infosec would be very happy with direct DB changes if they don't even like you using the API. Maybe worth discussing with infosec if you can get a temporary exemption while you…

Hey Gaven, I don't believe there's a way to do this natively within the Crowd UI, however we've leveraged the REST APIs to extend the functionality of Crowd. It'd take some dev effort, but you'd be able to use the API to do something similar. CCM

Hi @Divya Patkar Can I suggest you remove the “guy” reference from your post to be more inclusive? Using limiting terminology like this may mean you’re not attracting the best candidate. CCM
-
Hi Jessie, Hard to tell what is being used, but OBS (https://obsproject.com/) is a great open source option for screen recording that could achieve this result. CCM
-
Hey Rob, The answer from Nic doesn’t quite align with my experience (and we massively rely on Crowd). If you had two crowd servers connected to Jira, a user will be synced and authenticated from the first directory that the username exists in, there’s a connection timeout for each directory as well, so if…

Hi, The application upgrade may well change database schema/values as part of the startup process. If this happens, and then you need to roll back, you’ll want to have the database backup to revert to. Even if there’s no changes during the upgrade, things can go wrong and you may end up with corrupt data. I’ve been running…

This is a Jira issue, not Crowd by the way
-
Hi Hans, You can’t control the user key format in JIRA. Under the guise of GDPR, the userkey changed from being the username of a user when they first synced/existed in JIRA to the JIRAUSER#### format. CCM

We've upgraded our UAT to 4.2.0 and really liking the new custom login page, and nice to see the DB stored credentials (smtp/ldap/ad/etc) are now encrypted too. Thanks for the great work as always #TeamCrowd. CCM
-
Hi, I believe that your only option is a password. Can you confirm what you mean by CAC credentials though? CCM
-
Hi, I'm not 100% certain, however I do not believe this will work as for jira.sec.test.net you'd need to set the SSO domain to sec.test.net and for crowd.exm.sec.test.net you'd want to set it to exm.sec.test.net - I do not think that exm.sec.test.net would work under the sec.test.net SSO domain as you're shifting down 2…

I just saw the fine print. "We plan to make Bamboo Data Center available in the near future. As details emerge, we will notify current Bamboo Server customers and continually update this FAQ. Until further notice, you will still be able to purchase new licenses for Bamboo Server."
-
Hey Bryan, What does this mean for Bamboo given there's no DC option available (we're on DC for Conf/Jira/Crowd/Bitbucket)? As a software company promoting it's tools primarily as software development tools, are you just not going to have a CI/CD solution for on-prem? CCM

Isn't the main issue with git and EFS the fact that there's a bit of latency on each request, but native git is a huge amount of tiny files, each piece of latency adds up. Under LFS, while there might still be some latency, with less requests going to the files, it won't be a death by 1000 papercuts issue? CCM

To add to Nick’s reply, be cautious if you think an “easy” approach is just copying your current server.xml and then replacing the installer version to get your customizations back as sometimes there are other changes in these files that you’ll want to keep. To ensure or customizations are maintained (across more files…

An old thread, but this may be helpful for others anyway. I use https://www.epochconverter.com/ to convert epochs to date/time - it detects if the value is in seconds or milliseconds etc and outputs the date/time in GMT and your local timezone. CCM

Hey @Binoy Rajan That’s the idea, yes. If you have any plugins in Jira it’s data should be restored , but you will have to reinstall the plugins themselves. We went this route to move from mysql to psql and hit numerous issues that required sanitization (username formats etc), but we had 8 years of data and 20,000+ users…

Hi @Ansar Rezaei I would not use the elasticsearch that comes bundled with bitbucket - only send your logs to a different elasticsearch instance. I’d start with something like https://www.elastic.co/webinars/introduction-elk-stack - you can also signup for a free 30 day elastic cloud at https://elastic.co CCM

hey @simon_tsegay Based on your question my guess is that the Content in your confluences spaces cover a similar topic, so the keywords used have a lot of consistencies. https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/how-do-i-understand-the-ranking-of-confluence-s-search-results-785614686.html covers some of the logic about the…

Hey @Zuy Tran What you’re trying to do should be possible. You can only add users to groups in the same directory, so make sure that the directory dropdown list on the groups tab shows your AD linked directory, then create a group in that directory and then you should be able to add your AD members to it (as you’ve enabled…

Glad you got it sorted and great you posted the answer back to the community so others could benefit. CCM

Reindex times go in to the application logs (there’s a reindex complete - took 1234567 seconds type entry), but full indexes don’t happen by themselves and with log rotation you’re unlikely to have the last 1 reference, let alone the last 5 unless you’re shipping your logs to some longer term storage. CCM

Hey Binoy, I would suggest a three step approach: * migrate from the h2 database to your desired database (I’ve found best results with psql if that’s an option) * uograde to 8.5.4 * Migrate servers I would do each of these as distinct steps and leave at least a few days between each. If you upgrade, move, change db all in…
