@Ajith Reddy , I think most here would agree that really is not the place to put something like this. It belongs in your communications with whoever you're dealing with at Atlassian. Cheers, Pat O'Connell Technical Writer MindGeek Montreal

My org is on 7.8.x, and I think server. I find that saving my work, clearing cache and cookies for the wiki domain, then logging back in and re-editing the page does the trick.

I've actually found the fix for this. Save your work, clear cache and cookies for your wiki domain, log back in, Bob's your uncle. Typing speed is now back to normal.
-
I get this when editing basically any existing page. My fix is: revert, then re-open. Suddenly the images are back, after doing that. @[deleted], how about fixing this, hmmm? I'm winding up doing a lot of re-work because if a page doesn't have images near the top, I forget about this glitch until I see our (old, drunken,…

@Sergey Rodin, re: #1, what about enumerating them, in the headings "Order (1)," "Order (2)," etc? Would that work? Re: #2, I did create letter headings, for my glossary. Had a big of fun creating them, in Photoshop. This shows a couple of them: Cheers, Pat O'Connell Technical Writer MindGeek Montreal

Hello, everyone. I can see that it's been a while since the latest comment on this, but still. I'm surprised no one on server has mentioned the Widget Connector macro. Is it not part of the standard (and as we all know, missing many things that should be standard) install? My manager pushed back when I wanted an increase…

@Herve Frydlender, in that replay, don't you kind of have those steps backwards?
-
@Marcus Tang, you might want to be careful about using unprofessional language on a public forum. Anyone semi-technical working for your employer would be able to create a login, and check how you're behaving, in here. You don't have to be a vehicle driver deliberately splash-soaking a pedestrian (this actually happened)…

Cathy, If you're on Windows, I use a downloadable free utility called screen2webm to capture from the screen. It's a bit "fun" to find where it puts the videos. It also erases the last recording each time you create a new one. I then use https://convert-video-online.com, also 100% free, to convert WEBM to MP4, which is the…

Hey, @Bill Bailey, I have not been aware of dev versions. Perhaps one thing I should have mentioned is that we're theoretically upgrading to 7.4.x soon, but currently on 6.9.0. Not sure if that makes a difference. Unless, by that, you mean staging versions? This is about our 4th start at trying to upgrade, and I've been…

I want to chime in on this, as well, because lately I'm working far more with Jira then previously, and this..GAAAAAHHHHH! The kludgenhacken is new paragraph, type more text on next line, then delete the paragraph to bring it back up, but come on, Atlassian! Why was this not already resolved? This is such basic…

@Jorge ViramontesI just have the page in edit mode in one tab, and regular view (URL has to be the non-edit one) in another. It's not ideal. but it gets the job done.
-
Well, closed issues sure as hell aren't moved to the bottom! This drives me nuts with the stories in my Jira epics. And the rank-to-bottom thing doesn't work for me. Not sure why. Yet another example of Atlassian's attitude of "Yeah, we're just not going to do anything about that, even with so many people frustrated by…

Hello @[deleted] 1) I'm not quite sure what you mean by tagging. The only tagging-like mechanism native to Confluence (i.e., without plug-ins) is labels, so if I'm understanding you correctly, that's what you would use. 2) What do you mean by abbreviations? The method I lay out in:…

Brant, What I was looking to know was not so much on the page for which you gave the link, but it did link to pages that did have what I was looking for, more or less. Thank you! - Pat O'Connell

KM, I cannot get any of the JavaScript solutions working, but your solution works beautifully. I'm not quite following what you say about the URLs, by the way, and I didn't need to select a specific mobile device. Once in dev. tools, and toggled to mobile-device mode, I just hit F5 to reload the page. It had never occurred…

This is great if you your employer will actually consent to having a separate space for a glossary, and if you're a space admin for it. For example, the latter is something possible for me, having asked and had it happen. The former is not, having asked and had it not happen. :-) Under those conditions, this is very…

This isn't why I cam here, but I noticed this, so... (haven't we all been there? :-)) @jprateragg, I've looked at the page you give as an example. I see nothing not possible with just the standard table stuff available in Confluence—at least, as we use it here at MindGeek. We're on server 6.9.x here, and as far as I know…
-
Sonia, I'm actually not crazy about Page Index - I had to actually pretend I was going to put one into a page, to remember what that was about. It took me many months of being a very basic Confluence user before I decided to spend a day or two poking at all of the features I had never looked at. My result was…

Shayel, Perhaps I'm not understanding the question, but: For anything where you don't have terms starting with letter "x" would you simply not put the letter heading for "x," nor put the content-by-label macro for that letter? If you're looking for a way to have this happen automatically, then I'm not aware of one, unless…
-
Ilya, I'm having trouble understanding part of your question. "Highlighting terms in all pages?" Setting that aside, to me the most obvious solution here is this: Create a new workspace that is all about one thing: a company-wide glossary. You could bring in the definitions from the existing department-specific glossaries,…

Doug, Have you tried grabbing and dragging the Expand macro into a table cell? Best, Pat O'Connell Technical writer MindGeek Montreal

Well! We're running 6.9.0/server here, and I can confirm that this works. I was particularly interested in animated SVG, so I tested with both. It works with both static and animated SVGs. Sneaking in the back door, as it were! Best, Pat O'Connell Technical Writer MindGeek Montreal

Hey Theo, Sorry that this answer is so long in coming, but (and I think this happens often, here) I only came across this when searching for a solution of my own. The Confluence installation with my employer is 100% no frills, i.e. no macros, so creativity? A must. (And I get, and support, why they're reluctant to add any…

Hello, I meant to cross-link this the other day, when I created this new discussion, but here's something that builds on ideas from 3 or 4 people in the above, including myself: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-discussions/A-Confluence-glossary-where-you-can-put-letter-headings/td-p/1203774 I think this is…

And... I forgot about page-title collisions within the same space. We do not have a workspace that's just about a glossary, and I'm beginning to think I should petition for one. Pat O'Connell Technical Writer MindGeek Montreal

So... I have now realized that this is not really workable. You have to mass-copy in fits and starts, skipping the images or you get really weird editing behaviour in Word. And apart from the images, you lose anchors (they come in as images), links, Expand macros...you lose a fair bit of Confluence-specific stuff. Which…

Good day. I'm still working on my updated glossary, and I had Eureka! moment I describe in a discussion I started, here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-discussions/Importing-a-Word-doc-to-create-multiple-pages-A-light-bulb/m-p/1200460#M6076 I have also figured out a really cool way to have letter headings in…

Hey folks, @Alex O'Donnell was asking, now way up there, people's thoughts re: perils and merits of the method they described. I want to reformat a glossary that's currently one very long page, was intrigued by the method, and did a little trial in my personal space. Good: * Very easy to integrate new terms / new pages:…

Hi Jen, Could you not use multiple labels, à la : glossary-a_to_i glossary-j_to_o glossary-p_to_z ...so each term-specific page would us one of those three, as appropriate? Then you would have: Summary page for A to I - Content by Label macro picks up only glossary-a_to_i tag Summary page for I to O - Content by Label…
