No worries as that doc can be a bit challenging to follow. Another way to find the correct smart value for a field is: * for a rule action, such as the Work Item Create * when you select a field such as Due Date, note the curly brackets at the right side: { } * select those, and you can search for your field by name to get…

As an FYI...I noticed today the rule editor and audit log results features / UX have changed quite a bit in the last 24 hours, so perhaps some of what you see for the log is related to those changes. For the two specific new things you noted: You appear to be using the incorrect smart value for the Start Date field. As a…

Hi @deseymour Yes, and...to the suggestions from @Trudy P Claspill -- For the sum / synch of fields between parent and child work items, there are many ways the values can change...often requiring multiple rules (for just-in-time updates) or a single, scheduled trigger rule (for once-a-day updates). To learn more, please…

Hi @Renee Kirchoff To access the data in the submitted form, please use either the {{forms}} smart value or map the form field to a work item one. To learn more, please see this knowledgebase article: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/access-smart-values-for-forms-and-form-fields/ Kind…

Hi @Dan Breyen You may want to update your link to Atlassian Support as it appears to point to a specific site's service desk space. Kind regards, Bill

Hi @Raissa Nepomuceno Epaminondas Thanks for the additional information! You may want to check with your Jira Product Admin to learn if you have any marketplace apps / addons, such as for reporting which can do the pushes...or which extend the features of JQL to detect the user status. Another option would be to build your…

Greetings, @Alex Chiu While I think this new notes area is an improvement over the blog, I have a question and an observation: Even when the community pages are not working / updating, the Atlassian Cloud blog of release changes still works as it is a separate entity. And, the Atlassian status page information which…

@deseymour -- I recommend adding a link to this thread to your support ticket to show Atlassian Support what was tried (i.e., so they don't start with non-value-adding suggestions ;^) Then once resolved, post the info here...and if there is a different solution approach, create your own answer in the thread and accept it.…

Hmmm...that incident thread does not describe the root cause, so as an Enterprise plan customer you could try to "focus" Atlassian Support's attention, asking them for the RCA details and any pending resolution / mitigation action plan steps. That may help show if they have more in-progress-work which is not visible on the…

Hi @Mathew Lederman I recommend immediately contacting Atlassian Support for this symptom rather than waiting to learn if others have lingering effects from last week's outage: https://support.atlassian.com/contact#/ When you hear back from them, please post what you learn to benefit the community. Thanks! Kind regards,…

@Anthony Pugliese -- Short answer for your follow-up question: no. Branches which could be on more-than-one-thing process in parallel and asynchronously...with no guarantee of when the branch will finish up until the last step of the rule. Any variables created within the branch only exist while each specific item is being…

Hi @Camille -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community! There is a production incident with Trello, and you may follow progress of it here: https://trello.status.atlassian.com/ From that page you may subscribe to receive email updates. Kind regards, Bill

@relacionespublicas -- Sometimes the incidents do not list all of the symptoms happening or their scope of impact. As you appear to be on a free license level, I recommend monitoring that status page (by subscribing to it). When it is resolved, if you are still seeing symptoms and are on a paid license level, I recommend…

Hi @Nika Zupanc First, did you confirm the smart value {{pullRequest.commits.message}} actually contains a list of work item keys? For example, does: * one commit message contain multiple keys, and / or * there are multiple items in the list smart value {{pullRequest.commits}} and each contains one or more keys Let's…

Hi @hatem afifi -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Short answer: the gaps you describe seem incorrect / incomplete. Perhaps if you post your automation rule the community can provide suggestions to improve the rule. For the concerns you described, let's first note Jira Product Discovery (JPD) builds upon Team-managed…

Hi @Trudy P Claspill Thank you for this excellent and well-written article! Providing the full context and "edge case" stuff for the first-day-of-week setting will certainly help people following along who have changed that setting. For feedback, a couple of things of note: * One of your smart value expressions uses angled…
-
Hi @Trudy P Claspill I recommend adding .jiraDate to the end of each expression to ensure the time component of the value does not cause problems with the Due Date field. I have both observed and read questions where that can intermittently cause problems for date-only fields versus date / time ones. Kind regards, Bill

Hi @Ana Wishnoff What is Atlassian's plan for existing automation rules in Jira spaces which use Compass-related triggers, actions, etc.? That information is not described in the linked pages / KB articles. Kind regards, Bill
-
Very weird, indeed! Just to confirm: in all of the Work Item Create actions, you explicitly selected: * the Project / Space to "Recurring Work" and * the Issue Type as needed (Task or Sub-task)? The only references I have found for that error message were caused by: glitched rules from the initial editor save, or when…
-
Thanks for the additional information, @Anthony Pugliese Unfortunately, the {{issue.fixVersions}} smart value does not include the approver information...and, when the approvers are found using the Get Version endpoint, that does not include their email addresses either. And...the Bulk Get Users endpoint does not return…
-
Let's ignore that last approach as it is more relevant when using Edit Work Item or when creating a work item with Send Web Request and the REST API directly. When you tried the other ideas, what happened: test for glitched rule, explicitly select options, or use a branch?
-
@James Armstrong -- When there is only one value, perhaps try the what you show and experiment... Or, add a safety check with a Smart Values Condition to confirm {{lookupObjects.size|0}} equals exactly 1, and then use the first record in the get function to convert the list item to a single value:…

Hi @Stefan Walthes FYI I believe the Greenhopper REST API endpoints were deprecated a long time ago, so "buyer beware" when using them as they may disappear without notice. Kind regards, Bill
-
Hi @Anthony Pugliese For more context, would you please post images of the following: * your complete rule, in a single image for continuity * the branch * the audit log details showing a rule execution Until we see those... I suspect the challenge is because the email address is not provided directly with the approvers,…
-
Hi @James Armstrong -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community! FYI for that line you show as: {{infrastructure.get(lookupObjects.Client Database)}} What you are passing to the get() function is a list of things (i.e., zero-to-many Client Database values) and the get() cannot accept a list. You could instead iterate over the…
