Huh. While it's not perfect, poking around on the new JAC (huh, does anyone know when they finally migrated to the Cloud? I'd love to read the retrospective on that), I discovered that opening an issue from within a Filter provides a view where Status is pinned to the top of the screen. Check it out:…

(Ooof, I never read Who Moved My Cheese, but based on the synopsis, it's the kind of corporate middle-management nonsense that would support or provide cover to a change like this. We should not just accept change and move on. Grrrr...)
-
Welp. Guess it's time to get my Announcement Banner ready. Thankfully those of us on Bundled Release Track haven't yet gotten this change. It sounds awful, but it hasn't hit my test sites either, so I haven't had hands-on experience with it yet. But that means I had to fake my BEFORE/AFTER graphic that I've put on our…

Hi @Eitzaz Haider Unfortunately images in Descriptions and Custom Fields that allow images are referenced (at least using the regular API) like so when converted to HTML: "description": "<p><span class="image-wrap" style=""><img src="/rest/api/3/attachment/content/10137" alt="ThisIsFine.png" height="352" width="700"…

In light of yesterday's news about Data Center, I'd be interested in knowing if JEC might be part of the new Atlassian Ascend initiative, OR if they've got some other approaches cooked up.
-
Ah, I did not do a demo of this, but it makes me think perhaps I will do so at the upcoming Atlassian Builders Summit if you can make it!
-
Some unrelated related notes: Ah, ok so I didn't see this article before, but clearly I'm not the first person to "discover" the utility of JEC for maybe non-Ops related things, as @Dominique Wille wrote in Dec 2024: * Jira Edge Connector... super great but no connector feedback ? As Dominique writes: Overall super simple,…

Hey thanks @Matt Doar _Adaptavist_ - I think maybe you meant to link to this? * https://www.scriptrunnerhq.com/atlassian-apps/jira/scriptrunner-connect However, hrm, specifically regarding connecting to hosts inside the firewall, it looks like we run into the same issue of having to poke holes / reconfigure services to be…

Hey @Bill Sheboy! Actually it was a good exercise because I actually found that my testing was wrong, and my user might have ended up running into the issue of the Trigger Issue not getting the expected comment. That is a neat trick about "default attributes" and a clever use these structured smart values in Lookup Tables.…

As I'm putting together a test, I realize another factor is this checkbox in the For: JQL branch: * Only include work items that have changed since the last time this rule executed Yup, that would definitely exclude issues during a second run of a rule. Duh. Welp, as usual though, @Bill Sheboy is 100% correct, and indeed,…
-
Ah, Google to the rescue. [Voiceover]: "Previously on" * Jira Automation - trigger issue not showing in JQL branch I guess I could just do some testing. Bleh.
-
Hey thanks @Bill Sheboy! Yeah, so in my initial testing, probably because I had checked the Prevent duplicates by only adding this comment once to a particular work item checkbox for the Comment action, I could've sworn that my rule was failing to trigger because Jira was adding: AND key = {{triggerIssue.key}} I think I…

Man, I have played with this Macro so little, so thank you @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_ for cluing me into all its features. My user tried using this and found that unfortunately you can't specify levels, so it was returning ALL of the Content (including children) which wasn't desired behaviour. He's going to go with Child…

Oh for sure @Rick Westbrock, adding a comment is a necessity if you're going to be changing data after people change it. I just can't help but put myself in users' shoes, and Jira allows me to change a field and I do so, I'd be kind of annoyed to then get a notification with a comment that says "We changed the field you…

Hrm, after a little more digging into this team's space, I think what they really need to do is organize things hierarchically, and maybe put some Page Trees on the Parent pages, but... they're a bit bland. So then, yeah, I don't really want to buy anything, but is there anything that can do cards/buttons for child pages?…

Correct - it locks editing for all fields. I think this didn't used to be such an issue before Atlassian introduced inline-editing in JIRA 5.1, because people had to go to the "Edit" button. Anyways, for workflows that do require a bit more ... compliance, it always made sense to me that specific field changes be contained…

Hum [ACCESS-822] does talk about getting additional fields from the IdP, in your case, Entra. The good news is if you're using REGULAR SCIM to provision users, then you can now get the Manager. This was introduced sometime in 2022: * How to sync the manager attribute into Atlassian Home with Azure AD The bad news is, I'm…

Thanks @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_ - great tip. I'll play with that!!

Hi @April Chi - I do not have centralized user management, which is our point. I believe I tried it with my Org which has Original User Management, and it failed. Let me see if I have those results handy... Ah yes, I got good old: {"code":401,"message":"Unauthorized"} And I can confirm that my Admin Token is good. It works…

Ugh, yeah, makes sense that the problem is the dreaded ADF. A while back I ran into a "fun" bug where: * Users exporting Jira issues as Word docs had comments that were empty * Turns out many comments had tables pasted from Excel that included merged cells * These render just fine in the Jira UI, obviously: * But in a Word…

Using Automation to revert fields that users are "not supposed to touch" is a pretty horrible user experience. User: "What? Why did it change my field back? What is happening!?" A better solution is to prevent editing of fields during particular statuses. The way to do this is with Workflow Properties, a slightly arcane…

YAAAS, I knew I was forgetting something! Wow, these look pretty mid, as the kids say. But maybe usable! Thank you! I do appreciate that the Cards are responsive, so if as you expand/shrink the screen, or god forbid are on mobile, they're still usable, unlike, uh, NavMap:

Hello @Sophie Jasson-Holt - Is this available to organizations that are not on Centralized User Management? We were unable to migrate to Vortex due to number of users and groups, and I do not see the new option for Service Accounts. Hrm. Ok, so as of Aug 11, I guess this is still "Rolling Out": * Atlassian Cloud changes…

I don't actually Like that the answer is that you have to find the right Support person/actual human to talk to (and it certainly doesn't help that they laid off 150 folks in that org, does it?) But I am glad you found a solution, @Doug Rutherford
-
Hey @David May - Did you hear anything from K15t Labs? I had an odd issue with their tool not properly handling edits I made to images that had links, but then I couldn't reproduce it and I moved on to the next fire. :-/

Glad to hear it worked! I'd appreciate if you could click on the green "Accept Answer" button above. Thabks!

Hi @Sangyoon Kim (Logan) - Are you trying to use {{issue.description.equals("상윤"))}} as part of conditional logic (like filtering a list of issues)? If that is the case, then the equals function only returns true for an exact match. So your example would only return true if you the description ONLY was "상윤". You're looking…

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear about that situation Steve. That really sucks. Yes - if you have control over your email, I think @Vilius Šumskas's is spot-on. But man, what a hassle. And this is for a CLAIMED DOMAIN, no less!
-
@jarnold I've seen this before, and there's a few possibilities, but you were pretty rude to @Trudy P Claspill so I'll wait to answer for a bit. Please keep in mind that: * We don't work for Atlassian * We volunteer our time to do this * We genuinely want to help people But: * We didn't sign up to be abused. I understand…

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that @Andy Heinzer is no longer with Atlassian. What a huge loss for them, but really for US. Anyways, I appreciate this post because I just used it to make myself the owner of a Dashboard to do some permissions fixing. Unfortunately, it seems that this changing the Owner does NOT grant me Edit…
