You can bypass at least some history entries by making the "correct" API calls in Jira - Do you have any plugins installed? I know we had this issue at one point when we were using an older version of the Big Picture plugin (which does its own link/dependency management).

Thank you for your help @Ram Kumar Aravindakshan _Adaptavist_ It turns out that my log collector was splitting the log lines improperly. I looked at the physical logs and they provided a URL to edit the failing item - and I was able to resolve the issue.
