What he ( @[deleted] ), said, @Fabregas4 :) The reason that it is this way is that Jira apps must conform to the Atlassian licensing scheme(s) to be sold on the Atlassian Marketplace. And, as David said, for the Jira admins. in this world, it would be a nightmare to manage which Jira users get to use which Jira apps. under…

That is fair... Some tools force -- some would say "limit" -- organizations to do things a certain way, while Structure provides a high degree of flexibility and does not impose a fixed way of doing things. Of course, everyone has to choose the apps that fit their organization's specific goals.

Hi, @Lindqvist_ Dennis. Perhaps is gratuitous for me to say so (I work for ALM Works, that company behind Structure for Jira), but we have tons of customers who successfully use Structure, and Structure.Gantt, to support their Agile processes (SCRUM, SoS, SAFe, etc.) -- without slipping off their Agile path. If you'd like…

Hi, John. Yes. That's mostly fair. I'd be inclined to say Structure still is a great tool for server and data center ;) And, it is a great tool for cloud-based project management, too. What is fair/true is that the cloud version has many (but def. not all) of the features of the on-prem editions. In the same way, Jira…

Hi, Emanuel. I cannot speak for Atlassian, but as far a I know they have not announced any such intention. Moreover, many companies implement the SAFe hierarchy in their own, specific to their needs, way. Therefore, most SAFe/Jira customers choose to use Jira Align, or AgileHive, BigPicture, or Structure for Jira (which…

Hi, @John Hurlbert (& @Kailin). For general purpose "project management," where Advanced Roadmaps isn't what you need, most folks usually look at Structure for Jira and BigPicture. Both offer capabilities that are MS Project like in some ways, but are built specifically for Jira (and run through the Atlassian specified…

Hi, @Rohitkumar Gupta. @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- is right. Summing "up" from sub-tasks would be a very unusual approach for estimation purposes. However, if your organization is disciplined about doing things this way, it can be done. But not with Jira out of the box (AFAIK) -- you will need a Jira app from the Atlassian…

Hi, @[deleted]. This article touches on this topic, albeit from a SAFe perspective. Nonetheless it's a short read and you may find it useful. Good luck with your decisions. -dave [ALM Works]

Jan is right, @Jessica Peña. Structure for Jira from ALM Works (my employer) and BigPicture from SoftwarePlant are the two of the products that are mentioned most often. Both products allow you to organize and work with Jira issues in arbitrarily created, interesting (to you) ways that make it easy to visualize what's…
-
Hi, @manikanta ch Typically, people most often compare Structure and BigPicture. That said, if you haven't already touched base with the ALM Works (we make Structure) support team, please do. We'd be glad to help you diagnose the root cause of the performance issue you're seeing. Something to consider... Without knowing…

Hi, Kiran. This article does not exactly match your request. However, the ideas/principles explained in it may help you. It was written by @Philip Heijkoop _ALM Works_. Phil and I work for ALM Works, the company that makes Structure. Let us know if we can help in some way. -dave [ALM Works]

Hi, @Brenda Kelly. Adding to what others have said, there's at least one Atlassian Solution Partner who specializes in this area exclusively. They are called @RadBee. There may be others, too. I just happen to be personally aware of this one. -dave [ALM Works]

Hi, @Michael Baguio. On this end (I work for ALM Works, the company that makes Structure) it looks like the problem may be related to different email domains being associated with the original purchase versus the recent renewal. If you can't sort it out yourself via the link @Brant Schroeder shared above, we'll be happy to…

@John Chen: @Joe Pitt is right. Structure for Jira is one of a handful of apps that lets you organize your Jira issues into any (existing or new) hierarchical scheme you wish. For many companies, it's the way they were able to adapt Jira to the way they were (or want to) manage projects without having to follow a…

Hi, @mega.arcot. I hear good things about R4J from our (ALM Works) customers. You might be also interested in a couple of webinar recordings we have on this topic. One is done with an Atlassian Solution Partner - @RadBee -- who's crafted a suite of Jira apps that work well in the area. See: youtu.be/lpng2A8UTfw Another was…

To be specific, Aditya is referring to Structure for Jira.

Hi, Arden. This is a great question. I can't wait to see the sorts of responses it generates. Thanks! From my perspective, Jira Align is not a replacement for any of the products you've listed. (Note: I work for the company that makes Structure, so maybe you should accept my view with a large grain of salt.) However, my…

Hi, @[deleted] . As you and Bryan have been discussing, the Parent Link is a special, Portfolio-specific link. Out of the box, Portfolio supports the usual Jira 3-level hierarchy: Epic > Story > Subtask. But you may modify this hierarchy and add a new parent above the Epic level: Initiative > Epic > Story > Subtask. Other…

Hello, @Jan Dittrich. Unfortunately, the simple answer is, no. This is not possible without one of the Jira apps from the Atlassian Marketplace -- like, as you point out, Structure for Jira. I am not 100% sure, but it's likely that Jira Align (from Atlassian) will also address this need in some way. -dave [ALM Works, the…

Hi, @Thomas Jeppesen. Another option is to use one of the Jira apps from the Atlassian Marketplace that has this functionality. Two of the more popular are BigPicture and my company's product, Structure for Jira. Both products have this capability, and much more. With Structure, you can build spreadsheet-like views of Jira…
-
Hello, @Andrey Ponomarenko. @Brant Schroeder is correct. Structure and Big Picture are the two most popular solutions for this. It looks like you may have used Structure for Jira for a time back in 2015. A lot has changed since then. Please let us know if we can help you achieve your hierarchy goals. You can reach out to…

Welcome, @Thomas Hutchinson There is no native Gantt support built into Jira. However, there are a number of Gantt apps available in the Atlassian Marketplace. My company, ALM Works, makes one of the more popular ones — Structure.Gantt. But there are a few others that you'll undoubtedly want to consider before deciding…

Hi, @Prasad Andrews. In that case, doing what you wish to do will be very straightforward in Structure. You can use the Grouper or Sort automation upon the custom Team field that you have created. You can show any other field you wish, e.g. Assignee/Owner, Status, and so on, in a Structure column. You can use the custom…
-
Hello, @Prasad Andrews. As Nic says, Structure works differently than Portfolio, but "yes" this can be done. Fundamentally, Structure does not change Jira the way Portfolio and some other products do. And, it is designed to adapt to the way you do things -- it does not force you to adapt to the tool. So, the real question…
-
Hi, @Prasad Andrews. There are a number of ways you might achieve this. The best way for you will depend a lot on your use case(s). Also, how do you identify your teams in Jira, today? The answer to that question will likely tell us the best way for you to proceed. -dave [ALM Works]

I believe I understand your use case, VJ. Unfortunately, I cannot speak specifically to the report limitations you mention (I assume you are referring to out-of-the-box Jira reports?). That said, I can confirm that I often hear the same or similar comments from our customers so I presume your statement is correct. I think…

Hi, @Jordan Pesout. The app vendors who sell their products on the Atlassian Marketplace must abide by Atlassian's licensing rules (of course). However, in my experience, the vendors who make products that will not be used by all Jira users take this into consideration when setting their prices (I know that we do). I.e.,…
-
Hi, VJ. I can speak to the Structure for Jira aspects of things here. @Ste Wright is right -- this is a very common use case for Structure. In fact, I am in San Diego for SAFe summit as a type and we are here because of the large number of Jira users who use Structure to implement their SAFe hierarchies (whether it is SAFe…

Hi, @Marvin de reuck What is your manager’s use case? Perhaps there is another way to skin this cat. -dave
