Hi, @Amedeo. With Structure, you can create any hierarchy you like. It extends Jira to enable this. Jira out-of-the-box and <Advanced> Roadmaps are more prescriptive. By default, they expect an Epic, Story, Sub-task hierarchy. With Advanced Roadmaps, you can add levels above the Epic. Since you already have Structure,…

To add to what @Mark Segall said, many organizations us Epics as the parent issue that (may) span Sprints.

This is true. But some of the marketplace apps I refer to have Jira gadgets you can use for reports that include other info. (if desired). I happen to know BigPicture and Structure for Jira do, for example.

Hi, @Mit Tolia. I don't want to contradict @Jack Brickey, but I have seen many situations like yours where Backlog reports don't really fit the bill for leadership. (Jack may have had the opposite experience.) Typically, in cases like yours, folks end up opting for more than JQL + Scriptrunner. There is nothing wrong with…

Hi, @Anders Hebert. You did a great job outlining your needs :) Ultimately, what you are going to discover is Jira is built for (project) teams. It's optimized around the idea that high-performing individual teams make successful companies. And, it's one of the reasons it's so popular. In other words, it's not optimized…

Welcome to the community, @Keith Rowley. I am not personally familiar with Products Visibility By User Roles but I'm not sure that going to give you what you are looking for. You may want to look for a full-featured Gantt solution instead. There are a number of them available and the best ones give you the ability to…
-
@Aisha M - Not sure this is a direction you want to explore, but @Trudy P Claspill is right, Structure is an Atlassian Marketplace app (aka 3rd-party app). And, the fact that you already have it means that you have access to a product that is specifically designed to help you visual things across Jira projects. I.e., You…

Hi, @Mary Irion In Jira, Epic links are special. They can only be linked to Jira issue types that exist on the Story level of the hierarchy. If that doesn't work for you you'll need to look for an Atlassian Marketplace app that allows you to work with custom hierarchies. For example, this marketplace search will reveal…

That's correct. Only the Jira administrator(s) can upgrade the version of Structure you are using. Best, -dave
-
Hi, @Victor Crespo. Look for the little information button on the bottom right hand side of the screen (“i - info.”), click on it. The top row of the pop-up will tell you what version you are on. -dave

Hi, @vn56008. Welcome to the Atlassian Community. The reason is, Wiki Markup is not yet available in the cloud edition of Structure. You can check in on the roadmap for Structure cloud from time to time for updates. And you can ask to be notified about this particular feature by dropping an email to structure@almworks.com.…

Welcome to the group, Meghna! :)

Hi, @Dev. As @Trudy P Claspill points out, you will want to look to the Atlassian Marketplace for a Jira app that can help you do what you describe. @Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira's product is a relatively new "up-and-comer" within this category. There are also older, more established players that you may wish to consider.…

Welcome, @Rob Godbey. You will find lots of helpful community members here — many of them use JSM. But JSM is just a particular "flavor" of Jira so it's likely that many of the questions you may eventually have can be addressed by the wider community of Jira people. :) -dave

Hi, Becky. Welcome to the community. A couple of questions: * How large is "large" (i.e., how many Jira issues are in the Gantt chart)? * How is the structure created, using Generators, or Manually? The answers to these will help us formulate a better response. -dave
-
Hi, @Владимир Лебедьков (and @Fanny Zucchinetti. Honestly, the ALM Works support team is happy to respond here. One of our Structure Formulas experts will chime in here shortly, I'm sure. -dave
-
@Christoph Seifert Is the "Export" to PDF (or SVG) something that might help for now? I know these are static representations of the Structure and Gantt chart but perhaps that will work for now. -dave
-
Hi, @Christoph Seifert. Send a note to gantt@almworks.com if you'd like to be notified when it is available. 👍🏻 -dave
-
You sure can, @Domenic Wiley :)
-
Ah. Sorry, @Domenic Wiley Reach out via structure@almworks.com
-
That's correct, Dominic. But you do not need to have Advanced Roadmaps to do what you describe. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with Advanced Roadmaps, it's a great/useful product — but it is not required for creating the hierarchy you describe. Drop us a note at the email above. A 15-min. demo will accelerate…
-
Hi, @Domenic Wiley. Welcome to the Atlassian Community. It takes a little getting used to, but think of Structure as a blank slate where you may arrange Jira issue types in any parent-child relationship you wish -- and visualize those relationships in a work breakdown structure where the relationships are clear by the way…
-
Hi, @davidemigliacci. Welcome to the Atlassian Community. It sounds like you should def. talk to a local expert or two to get moving in the right direction as, based on your description, you may want to add a Jira app or two to your configuration. In particular, Tempo Timesheets or something similar comes to mind. And you…
-
Hi, @Lee Packham. Unfortunately, the short answer is "no." Not with Jira out-of-the-box, or with Advanced Roadmaps. (Slight simplification) Atlassian products revolved around the idea of a 3 (or 4 if you have Advanced Roadmaps) level hierarchy of issues with one-to-one relationships between them. That's the bad news. The…

Welcome, @Jennifer Abbott 👋🏻

Cool topic, @Kristján Geir Mathiesen 👍🏻 When I was younger, I worked for a wholesale dairy products company (during the winter and summer holidays between university semesters). I delivered dairy products to stores. One summer, my route included a stretch of highway through a deep valley. In the V of the valley, a long…

Hi, @kenneth.muylaert. Welcome to the community! First, can you confirm that we're talking about Atlassian Cloud here? (It's certainly implied, but it's always best to be sure.) Second, while I am certain everything @Mark Davies says is absolutely correct, the thing that is missing from this discussion is anything about…

Nice, brief and succinct article, @Josh Costella 👍🏻 I'm not a Jira Cloud admin. I don't even play one on TV. Nonetheless, I constantly ask my team, why, when they present their ideas. Usually, three or four times until we discover the true essence of what they are trying to achieve. In other words, I think your advice is…
-
Hi, @Progressive (Ben). Welcome to the community. AFAIK - not exactly like that, no. And definitely not out-of-box unless perhaps you are using Jira Cloud Premium or Enterprise, or Jira Data Center. If so, check out the Advanced Roadmaps capabilities inside. Again, not exactly as you depict it — but maybe it will suit.…

Yikes! I'm sorry you had to go through that, @Trudy P Claspill 😕 @Janet Traub, WELCOME to the community. Trudy is right. The Atlassian Community is littered with inquiries like yours. You are not alone. And, as she says, the three most popular ways to extend or customize the Jira hierarchy of issues are (I'm just adding…
