did you ever figure this out? I am having the same issue - and it was working properly before.

You can create as many types of items as you want but I don't think Jira will support a hard hierarchy like you suggest with non-native types. Especially in the sense of rolling them up in roadmaps, showing progress, etc. The great PM tool Aha! did this to an extreme level, I used it as a lone wolf in my org for a few…

Create a new Kanban board in your project, using an existing filter that only grabs the Epics you are interested in. (I guess you could create a new filter too.) You'll then get a nice kanbanny view of all the filter's contents, and you can drag-drop in there.

Jira Cloud + GitHub Enterprise On-Prem user here. Will the new GitHub for Jira app allow connections through a firewall without opening up any additional ports? We are not using the DVCS connector right now for this reason - Jira requires opening literally thousands of firewall holes to enable the connection, which our…

This is from a while ago, but my comment above was actually an issue with my monitor settings. Literally 1 notch up or down on my screen contrast made the highlighting appear. I realized this was the case when I dragged the window from that monitor to my laptop screen, and the highlighting appeared. So there's probably…

Not a solution for Cloud.

If i remember correctly, I copy-pasted a table from Confluence into here, and the table came across but the header row was stripped into plain text. I was not able to edit or change the table structure.

Hi - this what i get when creating a new article:
-
I am likely doing something wrong, but I don't have those options when i create or edit an article. Is there something i need to enable somewhere?
-
What is the difference between "split" and "clone"? Besides, of course, clone you can do from anywhere, and split, in Atlassian's wisdom, is only accessable from the backlog list view. (Someone will come in here explaining why that's by design, why it'd be dumb to split an item not in the backlog, etc.)

Thanks! In the meantime, is there a way to create tables - HTML, markup, anything - in Community articles?
-
Hi, thanks for the reply, I don't know what that means, can you elaborate? (also thanks for being active in your own almost-two-year-old thread!)
-
Hi @Shannon S , thanks for the help. It should look like a table, although since I didn't put any border in there specifically i suppose it looks right. I would expect a border by default, though it's been a while since i hand-coded HTML tables. But my initial post, which was in a comment, wasn't about tables in comments,…

hi, i'm copying a table from Confluence into a Community article. The markup tables aren't translating well, so I'm going to have to rebuild them in html. It doesn't seem to work. A simple table like this just shows up as the entered text, no formatting is applied. I also tried adding an <html>..</html> wrapper with no…

Good point @Kat Warner . Part of the benefit of an objective, specific ranking system is that you can know where you stand at any given time. If you can identify an area of weakness, then you can work on it, and mark your progress. One thing I maybe didn't make super clear, in this distillation of Jocko's podcast, is that…

+1 to 2DQ! I am probably not the intended audience, but I loved it.

I would never say I have all the answers, Nic. But it's a pretty simple concept - show the roll-up of estimations, as they're configured in the Stories and as is already implemented elsewhere in the tool, burndowns for example - that would answer a pretty popular use case. Jira is full of configurations for obscure use…

@John McCabe , I'm not sure about HTML, although I'm pretty sure I've used an HTML block somewhere on my cloud confluence, but there is a free Markdown extension you can use instead, which is probably better to use than HTML anyway. https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212654/render-markdown?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

I always use {code} ... as much code as you need here .... {code} You can specify syntax formatting with {code:sql}.....{code} etc similar to {panel} but implies {noformat} and syntax highlighting. Or, is that specific to Jira?

I just had this happen to me again, and I have to give @Josh Loe credit here, because the Typio extension that he recommended recovered what I'd entered beautifully. I've used it a few other times where I've accidentally closed a window, or similar, and it's great. It sits there in the background until you need it, and it…

again... not applicable to Cloud.

@Amir Colnect i mean this in the most friendly, welcoming way... get used to it. :)

Agreed. Losing a bunch of work to an errant "esc" is one of the most maddening things that can happen. Just now I accidentally pressed the Windows button while i was editing a story; i pressed Esc to close the Start Menu, and poof went my edits. They weren't even the window in focus! I'll check out that extension, but it's…

My board just switched from drop-down to the row of links. I'm ambivalent about the design choice, but what *really* is not good is that the selected choices are not highlighted in some way. Once you select a quick filter(s), you have to remember what you chose, because there's no way to see which one is chose. This is…

We tried opening just the domain addresses, but it wasn't enough. It needs everything. InfoSec wouldn't go for it, understandably. So we had to use the 3rd party plugin.
-
Following up on this - infosec said no way to opening up all those IPs - it's several thousand holes when you look at all the ranges. So our only choice was the BigBrassBand plugin. And since we've been using it, it's been great. It's useful to be able to see when code is being done and when PRs are opened and closed. And…

I would suggest that Jira comments are just as important, if not more, of a place to support robust code-style text entry. I am going with the {{{color:green}MY CODE TEXT{color}}} hack - thanks for that, @nancywilson - for now, but it's a LOT of extra cruft to have to write in.
