I feel that double edge sword of the Dear Work Therapist posts. Really good feedback, @Bill Sheboy ! Maybe there's a way to templatize or standardize the message to improve quality. Or, maybe we don't include those posts for kudos or contest points to de-incentivize poor-quality posts. Holler if you have another suggestion!
-
Oh no, @Alexey! That's certainly a [gripe] to hear. Is there any way to provide feedback to coworkers and leadership that that's how you (and potentially others) feel?
-
Yes! I think it's much easier to see what boundaries others need or use, but when it comes to our own mental needs, we often overlook that. So sometimes, intentionally setting those boundaries to help us stay sane is clutch.
-
Interesting. Curious, @Marjorie - how would you describe setting boundaries regarding what you share from your personal life? I agree that it connects the team more but wonder where the lines are for different people.
-
I LOVE THIS ONE, @Daniel Eads! Can you tell it personally speaks to me? I actually still struggle with this because I like completing small tasks if I can knock them out quickly. It's not for the achievement, but rather, so that I don't have the weight of knowing there's another thing on the to-do list. But to your point,…

That's one way to limit scope creep--scope creep on projects, on meetings or discussions, and on individual work portfolios. Great hack + reminder, @Kishan Sharma!

Hi @Martin Bayer _MoroSystems_ s_r_o__ - sharing a link to a video inspired by your message! We might just feature it on our social handles, too ;) https://youtu.be/2e55mcl-DVk

Sharing a video inspired by your post, @Fadoua. We might share on our social media handles if you're comfortable ;) https://youtu.be/mK-coRaCpZs

Dear, Never say die team member, What I'm hearing you say, is that the relationships between teammates matters. If so, I think you're right. From Atlassian-sponsored research as well as third party studies, we know that team health matters more than "budget" or specific "superstar individuals." We don't often think to…
-
Absolutely. It's like the book "Year of Yes," which despite the title, is about saying "no." I think that declining work, saying no to engaging with even the smallest thing that isn't in your prioritization area, etc, is not only a way to create a boundary in the moment, but a way to reinforce the boundary to others. Great…
-
Ooooh, yes! For those that didn't work from home pre-pandemic (myself included), there truly is an association between "place" and "activities." Great hack, @Jenn Velázquez !
-
[gripe] Sometimes I want to influence work that I'm not driving or leading. It's not my role to be an active contributor, but it can be hard for me to support the work without engaging at the level I actually want to take on. But if I did this (or anyone did this), we wouldn't be able to fit our other priorities in scope.…
-
[hack] I create time boundaries for activities that are really hard for me. For example, I don't like writing long-form messages. I obsess about everything and ultimately write more than I need to, confusing the reader. So to limit my spiraling (for my own sanity) and limit the amount of investment I put into something…

If you're just taking a poll, I'm definitely a "default to work from home" kind of gal. I give in to norms and peer pressure to much to feel comfortable working when I want to work and in the way I like to do it (e.g. lying down sometimes lol) to do that from an office. But, I do see the benefits of in-person collaboration…
-
Dear @Fabian Lim , I think it comes down to the WHY behind going back to the office. * Is it for better communication? Or camaraderie? * Workstyle preference? * Or because it's the new policy? Because if teammates genuinely want to come back to the office, I'd play into what they want. And if you don't know, ask them. Once…

Glad to hear it!

It's that prevelant. Hahaha, yeesh!

Asynchronous collaboration that outlives teammates Context: At Atlassian, we have a looooot of Confluence pages. People join and leave the company. Over time, we can find pages with different authors but that share the same purpose. Other times, we have pages that become outdated. Question: I consider Confluence pages…

Inspired from a team offsite/retreat! But then...

Okay, gonna give that Trello board idea a go with my team!
-
Also, any favs in your library can/want to share here as an example?
-
A team library for personal development hacks? This is a holden idea! Should we start one for this group? At the very least, I'm gonna share with my team. Thanks for the tip, @Laura Holton _ACE Manchester_ !

Roadmap? What roadmap?
-
Oh. It would be interesting to share the recorded demo and prompt a question from it. Like: "what do you want to see done differently for the next demo?" Or, "what's one thing you learned or didn't realize after watching this?" A little gamification for rewarding those who engage couldn't hurt either ;)

Dear One Team & One Collaborative Believer, Indeed, the concept of one team is tied directly to collaborative thinking. The more a team feels together, the more collaborative they are together. That said, I suggest finding a way for participants to feel they are part of one team. It could be a shared understanding of the…
-
I agree with @Fabian Lim , @Alex Gay . Are there questions from those who do attend or good follow-up actions taken as a result? If so, that seems like a really good engagement rate for 25% of an invite list. Also, as a recruitment tool, you could try asking those who don't attend what they're looking for. Is there…
-
@Anita Kalmane for sure. Likely going to happen for the next live event after this one! Spoiler alert: it's gonna be about team health and new research on it.
-
Hi @Tinker Fadoua For me, motivation and habit are closely linked. That's why I like to start slow on expectations for motivation on a new skill. What's the first thing I need to do to gain skills: is it general understanding of the scope of the skill, look videos or articles of people who do it well? Whatever it is, at…

The post-it example is so sweet because everything is digital now.
