Jira UI Bug – Create Button Hidden Behind Search Field Until Page Refresh

Hi Atlassian Community,

I've encountered a UI issue with the top navigation bar in our Jira instance.

Issue Description:

When there are too many items in the top navigation bar, the Create button becomes hidden behind the Search field, making it invisible and inaccessible.

However, after refreshing the page, the navigation bar adjusts correctly, moving the extra items into the More dropdown menu. The Create button then becomes visible and clickable again.

Expected Behavior:

The navigation bar should automatically handle overflowing menu items and move them into the More dropdown, ensuring that the Create button remains visible and accessible without requiring a page refresh.

Actual Behavior:

The Create button is hidden behind the Search field until the page is refreshed.

Workaround:

Refreshing the page temporarily resolves the issue.

I've attached a screenshot showing the behavior before and after refreshing the page.

My Questions:

* Is this a known UI bug in Jira?
* Is there an existing bug ticket tracking this issue?
* If this is a new bug, what is the correct way to report it to the Atlassian development team? I tried contacting Atlassian Support but couldn't find a way to submit a bug report.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Omid,

From your screenshot it looks like you're on Jira Data Center and not Cloud, and this overlap is a known one: JRASERVER-35510 (https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-35510) says that "When you have many products that stay at the top bar, the Create issue button is overlapped by the Quick Search box." It was closed as Obsolete rather than fixed, so there's no fix version to wait for. The open suggestion is JRASERVER-70809 (https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-70809), which asks for app menu items to go into More by default, and I'd vote for it and watch it. While the button is hidden, pressing c on any Jira page still opens Create, and pressing ? shows the full shortcut list. I haven't tested this next part myself, but since the header moves items into More when the window width changes, resizing the window or zooming out and back in might bring Create back without a reload. Your Jira admin could also try trimming the app menus in the header. If you raise it at https://support.atlassian.com/contact/, I'd mention which Data Center version you're running.

I hope one of those brings Create back.
