ACP-620 prep material steps not aligning with cloud environment

I've just begun going through the certification prep course for ACP-620, however I the information and examples in the course do not align with the test environment I've created. I have several questions relating to the material. Is there a chat feature of designated POC for these courses?

I'm in the Lesson; "Getting Started" and have followed the steps to create a cloud environment, however when I get to the Issue Settings step, my cloud environment does not match up with what the course says. I do not see a default software scheme under permission schemes. I'm extremely new to Jira and have been searching for solutions for several hours, but I've been unsuccessful.

Could someone chime in or perhaps point me in the direction of additional materials?

Hi Erin,

The courses always run behind the product, especially this time of year, when Teams has occured, and lots of new features turn up, and while that can be frustrating, the exam does align to the prep course.

If you'd like to drop some screen shots, I could look to point you in the right direction.

Not to discourage you from taking this certification exam, but if you are very new to Jira, I'd recommend looking at the Atlassian Certified Associate - Jira Software Essentials Certification

The one you are looking at assumes you have been a Jira project administrator for at least 6 months - 1 year. If this is your first exam I'd even recommend more experience than that.

The exam I linked is designed more for power users than Administrators where it will teach you more about some of the fundamentals and terminology and the exam is a little bit easier to study for.

Hi Erin,

As @Jimmy Seddon mentioned, the certified associate credentials are a better starting point if you are very new to Jira.

Having said that, with regard to the actual cert prep content you mentioned, it is possible their is only one permission scheme in new set-ups now. The reason for this would be that from 1 May Jira Software and Jira Work Management became 1 single product called Jira. Previously these were 2 separate products and each had their own default permission scheme. If you are only seeing one permission scheme that could be for that reason.

As @Mark Higgins mentioned, the training materials are always slightly behind the updates to Cloud and because this update is so new and quite a big one, the differences may appear bigger. The functionality remains the same though. so if you have a Default Permission Scheme instead of the Default Software Scheme, this will still work from an exam prep perspective.

Its because you created a "Team Managed" project I think.

Go to Projects > Create a new Project > Create Kanban > make sure you select Company Managed > give it a name and key, then you should be able to check for your default software scheme under permissions and it will be there.

Do the same for another project, but this time with a scrum board, after you should be all set.

The only issues I had with the lab is that you cannot be in free trail to do all the steps, I hope in the future maybe Atlassian creates like a lab trial instead, maybe limit users to like 3 or something so that all features required are unlocked.

Also if you are new to Jira, I would recommend doing the Jira badge first and "Atlassian Certified Associate - Jira software Essentials certification", after that do "Atlassian Certified Associate - Jira software Board Configuration". The board configuration cert is also great because you will see this in ACP-620, I actually used board configuration Atlassian training and ACP-620 board configuration section to help study for the cert. This then goes into ACP-620, they all kind of build on each other so I recommend not jumping to 620 to start if you are.
