Is there an Addon for JIRA Core, that makes it possible to extend the issue type hierarchy?

Hi,

is there any chance to extend the issue type hierarchy (task, subtask) in JIRA Core with a third issuetype (that behaves like another subtask or an epic because of an issue link) by using a specific addon?

Or do we definitely have to use Jira Software for that?
