During a Sprint can individual sub-tasks be pulled in or does it have to be at the Story level

Question

Within a Sprint can team members work on individual sub-tasks without the whole User Story being pulled into the Sprint.

I know sub-tasks do not show on Backlog and are only available on the Kanban Board

Team members can "work" on individual sub-tasks without the whole User Story being pulled into the Sprint, but the sub-tasks will not be visible in the board... They will have to use another way (search ?) to find these sub-tasks...
