How can we maintain hierarchy regarding project development cycle ?

I want to develop a hierarchy such as

- Project

- Epic

- Issue/Task

- Sub-Task

Something like that. Could you please suggest if such a hierarchy is possible or if there is any other alternative?

This hierarchy is a default behavior of Jira. You can view the issues in hierarchical order in 'Agile Board' of Jira.  You can also use this plugin to display your data in hierarchy: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/34717/structure-for-jira-projects-at-scale?hosting=server&tab=overview

We use JIRA 7.12 server version.

The hierarchy you describe is the default issue breakdown approach used by JIRA. (It is the breakdown we use for our software development project.)

There should be no additional configuration required to work this way using the tool.
