Jira query for Bugs by epic and the epic is in progress

I need a query for to show the bugs that are associated to an epic, and the epic is not closed.

I am able to render a list of all active bugs associated to an epic via the below query, but I need to filter further and show only those bugs associated to an "active" epic.

project in (xxx, xxx, xxx...) AND type = Bug AND status not in (closed) AND "Epic Link" is not EMPTY

There is also another JQL function from ScriptRunner that should allow you to do this. I think the basic queries you're looking for are:

All Bugs in Open Epics

issuetype = Bug and issueFunction in issuesInEpics("resolution = Unresolved")

All Bugs in Closed Epics

issuetype = Bug and issueFunction in issuesInEpics("resolution != Unresolved")

If you have script runner plugin you can use issueFunction JQL command;

But;

Epic link is majorly used to link a story .

Query can be like this for a story:

issuefunction in linkedIssuesOf("project = XXX", "is Epic of")

Bugs can be linked to an epic with 'Relate' as well.

For 'Relate' issue link , the outward and inward description is same 'Relates to' by default.
