You'll need to read the logs to find out what the "internal server error" is - the logs usually have a lot more detail. <jira home>/logs/atlassian-jira.log is the one to start with.

You will need to give more detail. One line doesn't tell us much.

Although that one on it's own would make me suspect you've got a corrupted database.

Ok, that's better, I think you've run into https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/creating-issues-in-jira-7-throws-error-multiple-entries-with-same-key-815570970.html

Andy Heinzer

It's difficult to say for sure, but I am suspecting that your problem is caused by the problem in the KB below:

CreateIssueMeta returns Duplicate Key error

To verify the cause of the problem, can you please run the following query in your Jira SQL database and attach the result to this thread?

select f.name, i.fieldidentifier, count(*)
from fieldscreen f, fieldscreenlayoutitem i, fieldscreentab t
where f.id = t.fieldscreen
and i.fieldscreentab = t.id
group by f.name, i.fieldidentifier having count(*) > 1;

If everything was working correctly, each custom field should only appear on a screen once. However I'm thinking that some plugin or plugins have duplicated a custom field to cause this problem. This should at least help point us in the right direction.
