How to add a condition that 4 checkboxes are checked before moving to next stage in workflow

We would like to add a workflow condition that ensure 4 checkboxes are checked before it can move to the next workflow step. Can this be done? Does it require an extension/addon?

Yes, it requires an add-on to be installed. Which app to choose depends on what other requirements you have. 

I would suggest you the following two plugins based on your condition requirement : 

• JIRA Suite Utilities: Use value field condition. Please refer to this article.
• Script Runner for JIRA: Script condition or modify built-in scripts as per your needs. Please refer to this article.
