Using multiline text in nested bullet lists

When entering bullet list items, I can use shift+enter to start a new line without creating a new bullet point. However, when I have nested lists, I can't go back to the previous level without creating a new bullet point.

 

Here's an example:

• List item 1
  Some text
  
  • Nested item 1
  • Nested item 2
• I want to add more text to List item 1 here, but it creates a new top level item instead...

No matter what I press, I can only (1) add another nested item, (2) add text to last nested item, or (3) create a new top level item.

I have this problem. I used to be able to 'trick' the list into letting me do this, by adding several new lines without bullets, and then copying and pasting the 'sub list' above one of the new lines and then adding the text on one of the lines without bullets after the list. But this is no longer possible—whatever I tried, Confluence forces the lines below to have a bullet point.

I have a bad workaround which may not work for you. I now add a new line underneath and outside of all the lists and then indent it. I have to add 1-3 spaces so the text lines up as if it was a line within the top level list.

It doesn't look terrible if you add a new list underneath as if it were a continuation of the original...
