How do I add an external user to Confluence?

Question

My company have a confluence page for internal uses, relay information etc. I am an admin, therefore I am able to add users, allow permissions and other capabilities. I need to add an external colleague to aid my team on a project and she will be pivotal in the communications on the confluence page. I have tried to add her by email on the permissions page however this failed. I need help..please.

The easiest way is to use the Invite link option. This then sends an email to the user, inviting them to join Confluence, and lets them set their password.

I have multiple outside users, and this is the method I use.
