What is the point of Confluence software-project space blueprint?

Question

When I create a Confluence space from the software-project blueprint, it makes me specify a JIRA project.

What's the point of this?

I've looked through the space admin features and don't see anywhere that the information is stored.

It doesn't seem to set any defaults for JIRA related macros.

I understand that the blueprint provides default pages and page templates. I just don't see the point of specifying a JIRA project, as it seems to not be recorded or have impact on the pages in the space.

You cannot edit the blueprint itself, but you can modify the templates within the blueprint:
