Lost file after removing macro Excel from the content of a Confluence page?

On a Confluence page that had an Excel file attached to and that used the macro Excel to display the content on the page, a user reports that they lost the file after removing the macro from the page.

 

Has anybody seen something like this?

Any ideas on have I can troubleshoot for this issue?

If the macro was removed but the attachment was not explicitly removed from the page, the attachment should be retrievable from the attachments menu on the page, accessed from the ... menu on the right:
