How to turn off notifications for a user that is not reporter or assignee for the issue?

Question

User in the Group (QA User), suddenly started to receive e-mail notifications on Issue Closed, Issue Commented, Issue Comment Edited from JIRA when he is neither Reporter, nor Assignee for that.

The notification scheme remained unchanged, and for these categories of actions is like this:

What could be done so user can stop receiving notifications that is not relevant to him?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello Ellen,

Looking at the screenshot, you have Three closing transitions, and two with the same name but different ID's.  ID=21 and ID=141:

* Open (1) to Closed (8) using transition: *No Work Required (21)*
* Analysis (2) to Closed (8) using transition: *No Work Required (141)*
* UAT (7) to Closed (8) using transition: *UAT Testing Complete (151)*

I would guess that one of the "No Work Required" transitions is using a different post function than the others explaining the randomness in your notifications, as this would be dependent on which of those two transition the user selected to close the issue going through the different options in the workflow.

Select each of those three transitions hyper link's and open them in a new tab, which will take you to the transition options for a comparison.  Select the Post Function Tab to compare the settings on each.

As an EXE from a test instance, the transition post function event for the Issue Closed event would look like this:

Hello Earl!

Thanks for reply. There were no changes to the workflow, or to the notification scheme for that existing project. It just suddenly started to send notifications to one person, who doesn't relate to the defects (neither reporter, nor dev, or PM, or Admin...)

And there are no ways to change the post functions or Events on existing workflow

Any other suggestions?

Hello Ellen,

It sounds like there was most likely a change to the workflow and a different Workflow Event is being fired over the expected issue closed event.

Check the Post Functions on the workflow transitions to see what notifications is being sent.
