Is there a way to merge content from multiple tables by only including rows with key words in them?

There are multiple pages with different tables on them. Our team is only interested in a few of the columns, across multiple documents. And in those columns, there are only certain rows tagged with new keywords that we're interested in.

Considering the pages are always being updated, new keywords being added, and even new pages with multiple tables being created constantly, is there a way to pull data into one central location to make it easier for us?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Hashem,

There's not a native way in Confluence to monitor specific columns or rows in a table. If you know the keywords you are looking for, the best alternative I could think of would be to use a Search Results Macro on a page to show all pages that contain a certain keywords. Of course, this would search for the keyword anywhere on the page, not just within the specific rows and columns you are targeting. However, this could work, depending on your requirements and how unique the keywords are.

Hi Hashem,

If you need to pull multiple tables (both manually created or generated with the help of the macros outputting tables), you can use the Table Excerpt Include macro that provides an ability to pull any tables from child pages, from specific pages, from pages by labels and more.

After that, you can use the Table Transformer macro to merge all the tables in one.

The Table Filter macro can help you to hide unnecessary columns and filter rows by keywords.

The workflow may be as follows:

1. Insert the Table Excerpt macro, set the Excerpt name parameter, and place the tables (or the macros outputting tables) within the macro body on every page.

2. Add the Table Excerpt Include macro on the summary page, specify Excerpt name and select an appropriate Excerpt source.

3. Wrap the Table Excerpt include macro in the Table Transformer macro, use the default presets or custom SQL queries to merge all the tables in one.

4. Add the Table Filter macro to the merged table to hide unnecessary columns and filter rows by keywords.

@Alexander Wirtz We have a datacenter version looks like the option "name" in the table excerpt doesn't exist ! so that ican't retrieve several table from different pages . any workaround?

Hi @renaud staessens ,

It can't be so - please check if you inserted the Table Excerpt macro and not the standard Excerpt macro (without the "Table" prefix).

There is no any difference between the app's versions for different hostings, it doesn't matter if you are on Cloud, Data Center, or Server.
