Can I reactivate Jira on Linux after testing on Windows?

I installed Jira on my local machine to test it and make sure I understood enough for the planned company deployment.

Now I'm worried I prematurely linked it to my Windows machine when I know we wanted to install on our company linux server.

Can I deactivate the license so I can install on linux and activate it there? Or does it not matter and I should export my current database to be linked to the one we will install on the linux software?

Hi Elliot,

There's no need to deactivate your license. You can just do a fresh install of Jira on your Linux instance, and then decommission your Windows installation.

If you have important data on the test instance you can migrate your Jira installation to your Linux server. Please follow the instructions at Migrating Jira Applications to another server in this case.

Hi Elliot,

Do not worry, your license will be enough. This is not Windows or Oracle!

The backup will keep your license and, if your license is for more than 10 users, you also can have a developer license for your testing instance.
