User management sync with Jira imports user into confluence directory

Question

We synced Confluence to Jira to delegate the user management to the latter. The issue is it imported all the user to confluence as Active and now we can't edit anymore because of the error "Too many users".

Is there a quick way to resolve this?

Hello,

The only reason Jira users count towards license in Confluence is if they have can use permissions. If your confluence license count goes up, then jira users are given permissions on confluence somehow.

Hey,

Ok so in this case here is the new action plan:

* Add Jira to Confluence as user directory and sync
* On Jira go to Settings > User Management > Groups
* If Jira is added to Confluence for User Management, you should be able to see confluence-users group synchronised
* Click Edit members and remove all unwanted Jira users, that should not have access to confluence. 
* Synchronise directory on Confluence and check license count.
* Confirm that Global Permissions and space permissions do not have jira-software-users or other groups added, only those whose members you control on confluence.
