Bitbucket upgrade from 4.2 to 4.9

Question

We are planning to do Bitbucket upgrade from 4.2 to 4.9. We would like to follow the below approach.

* Create a clone of current production environment which is integrated with Oracle (we are using Oracle as database)
* Perform a upgrade on clone
* Verify the environment after upgrade
* Upgrade the production environment

Is there any document available to help us for this upgrade?

Since we are using Oracle as backend and if we use clone Bitbucket, will it impact the current production environment?
