Is there a way to schedule a filter to be sent to assigned users only?

Hi I have a filter I created with past due items that I would like sent to the specific assignees and not to a wide distribution. is there a way to do this?

Create a user group to receive the report
Assign the users you want to that group
Subscribe that group to receive the report and schedule it.
