Issues in Upgrade from 5.5 to 5.9.8

Question

Hi Atlassian Team,

I am upgrading my confluence server from 5.5 version to 5.9.8

I encounter following issues:

* Collation of database as i am using SQL Server and after 5.5.3 version database collation should be set to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CS_AS. 
* Facing pages permission issue as it is showing the below error even for Admin users while editing the pages:image2016-5-4 12:47:18.png

3. On the dashboard on left hand panel i am not able to see:

This panel is coming in 5.5 version but not on 5.9.8.

Please help us in resolving these issues and also if any other issue we can face on this upgrade.

Please also guide on which version we should upgrade in order to minimize the issues.

First, forget errors 2 and 3 for now.

You need to fix the first error and get the database collation right before re-testing.  Set the collation correctly on the target database and re-do the upgrade/import

The collation could be causing the "not permitted" and panel issues.  It could be something else, but I've seen cases where the wrong database collation does (specifically, Turkish names couldn't be read from the groups, so a user with a Turkish name could log in, but appeared to belong to no groups)
