How to populate the Sprint field in a KanBan-based project.

Question

I have a project in JIRA v7.6.3 which was created as a KanBan project. I now want to use the sprint field so I can include tickets in other, Scrum-based projects. However, the Sprint field is locked and not available to populate. I'm assuming this is because the project was created using KanBan templates.

I have tried changing all the config schemes on this project to schemes that I used in Scrum-based projects, but nothing seems to allow the Sprint field to be populated. I can't see a way to Edit at the project-level, to change 'KanBan' to 'Scrum' because it's just stored as a "Software" project and nothing more specific.

I don't want to re-create the project and have to migrate the tickets. Is there a way to change the settings or the configuration to make the Sprint field available?

You can add it, but it doesn't remain visible.  When I refresh the ticket I can see the field for a moment, but then it vanishes.

Where do you want the sprint to be available? In the board or in the issues?

You can actually, add the field to the kanban project's screens even though the field shows as 'locked' in the custom fields section and add values to it.
