Unstaged file across multiple branches with different users

Dear experts

We have multiple users which has started to see the same changes to the same file across different branches. Discarding the file does nothing (it remains unstaged).

Normally I'd just think that it was something changing the file on the file system, but since 2 different users has reported the same issue with the same file (in different locations, and operative systems) I find it strange. Any ideas?

I think we found the reason. I checked in a file with Linux and named a directory "Apple" while there was already a directory named "apple". Linux FS is case sensitive so it works there, but it looks like SourceTree gets a bit confused.
