What permission do I need to create new issue type and customize field?

Hi, I am Jira Administrator of my project. But I am still unable to see "Add issue type" in my Settings > Issues > Issue types. Do I need a higher permission to perform this action? If yes, how can I know who has that higher permission and can help to grant me the same permission?

Up to Jira 7.6, you need to be an administrator to add fields to your project. From 7.7, you need to be a project administrator with the "advanced configuration" permission set in the permissions scheme

To create new issue types and new fields, you need to be a Jira or System administrator

Thanks Nic for the quick reply.

I am on version 7.6, and I think I am a Jira Administrator(that's what I see from top right cog icon). So sounds like I have got the right permission? If not, how to get it?

Just had a look at my Permissions. The 'Extended project administration' is ENABLED.

Ok, that should give you some access to select fields for your project, but you still can't add types or new fields.
