Modifying operations feature to have different fields within View/Create/and Edit screen

Question

We are currently looking to modify each screen to where when we create a new story we do not have to have a resolution as a requirement but would like to see and edit the resolution in the view and edit screens. Is this possible?

TL;DR we just want to remove resolution requirement from create new story screen.

Yes, post-functions automate it - the usual more common cases I see are

* Set and clear resolution for users as part of the workflow, so they don't actually need to think about it at all, but still get correct working data.
* Set it for them on certain transitions.  "Resolve as duplicate" is not an unusual transition, and there's no need to bother to ask the user to set the resolution to "duplicate"

I usually have to use even post functions because users confuse resolutions too often... So we make different transitions which automatically set the resolution.

Also, you can limit the resolutions they can choose with the workflow properties.
