Is it possible to create a section in confluence with only read access and nothing more for users

Thomas Gilg

Within a space we need to give access to users where they can only see a menu and the page we select. It can't be public but we still need to control the users access. We do not want the users to be able to see anything like "People", "Blog", "Calendar", etc. just a simple menu with the pages they have access to, like a normal wiki.

Thomas,

These things aren't possible overall. The below article can help you restrict the People Directory from certain groups, followed by its feature request.

• Hiding the People Directory from a Confluence Group
• Feature request for restricted access to People Directory: CONFSERVER-7837

For Team Calendars:

• Ability to restrict which groups and/or users have access to Team Calendars: CONFSERVER-51174
• To restrict certain calendars: Restrict a Calendar

For blog posts:

• You can restrict certain blog posts from certain users.
• You can remove the blogs entry from the sidebar entirely by going to the space, click Configure Sidebar, and click the minus sign to the left of blogs.

Let me know if you have any questions about any of this.

Regards,
Shannon
