Do your keyboard shortcuts keep changing on their own? Is it infuriating?

Sometimes this works for a heading:

# Heading 1

## Heading 2

 

Sometimes this works instead:

h1. Heading 1

h2. Heading 2

 

I can't discern any reason for the switch, and only one of those is documented in the shortcuts help. 

 

Similarly, I find that most of the time Ctrl+Shift+8 creates an unordered (bullet) list, and sometimes Ctrl+Shift+B does the job instead.  There are a few other times where I'm experiencing flaky behavior and competing markdown/autoformatting standards.

 

What's up with this? Has anyone else noticed the issue?

Hi Elaina,

I'm not sure if you're on Server or Cloud but I do believe on Cloud they've released the ability to user Markdown (which uses # for headings) while on Confluence they're still using their own syntax.

I know this is confusing and let's hope they'll make sure it works the same in both applications. The same goes for the keyboard shortcut(s) like you mentioned.

To find out what keyboard shortcuts are available in which tool you can press '?' in both JIRA and Confluence to see an overview.
