Rendering external CGI and Confluence

I want to include external CGI in Confluence. In the preview of the page it just shows up as empty. The Confluence HTML macro is enabled. Pure external HTML works fine but not CGI, does that have something todo with Tomcat config (web.xml)?

The code looks like this which it cannot render on the external web page in Confluence:
<div id="file"><form action="http://server/file.cgi" method="post">

We run Confluence 5.6 on Linux.

I may be wrong here but, if the only code you have in the html macro is "<form action="http://server/file.cgi" method="post">" then you shouldn't see anything. Your html is only defining a form with a submit action and is not including the content of the page (cgi) you are referencing. We use the bob swift html plugin so that we can include external html pages. Alternatively you could use an i-frame in your html macro to include the cgi file, that would look something like <iframe src="http://server/file.cgi"></iframe>
