Automatically Assign issue to the Assignee of a specific status

Hello, 

Is there a way to retrieve who was the Assignee for a specific Status?

Here's why I need that: I'm trying to automatically assign an issue to the developer who performed the work, when his/her code has been reviewed.

My workflow: To Do --> In Progress --> In Review --> Done

I know I could assign it to "Previous Assignee" but I trying to find the solution that works for edge cases such as the Review original Assignee is out of the office and someone else performs the review.
