On Confluence Startup, the following error is thrown

Hi,

I'm new to Atlassian and have just installed Confluence. Inittially the browser was working but the step after I tested the connection to an external database Igot the following (below).

Any suggestions please?

The SystemInformationService could not be retrieved from the container. Therefore very limited information is available in this error report.
The SystemInformationService could not be retrieved due to the following error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Spring Application context has not been set

Cause

com.atlassian.util.concurrent.LazyReference$InitializationException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Spring Application context has not been set
    at com.atlassian.util.concurrent.LazyReference.getInterruptibly(LazyReference.java:149)

caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Spring Application context has not been set
    at com.atlassian.spring.container.SpringContainerContext.getComponent(SpringContainerContext.java:48)

Hi Ann,

Thank you for the reply.

The problem has now been resolved. It was due to the wrong licence key being used i.e. prod key for a test system.

Perhaps Atlassian could look at getting some test in place for the licence key, rather than crashing out with errors.

Hi Ian,

"Spring Application context has not been set" is a common error that can be produced by a number of causes. The most common issue is a lack of permissions on the home directory which prevents Confluence from writing to the confluence.cfg.xml file.

Please work your way through this guide until you find the cause of your particular "Spring Application context has not been set" issue:

Confluence does not start due to Spring Application context has not been set
