Site unavailable after crashing during search re-index

Question

Hello,

This morning I tried to restore a space to our confluence installation (Server version 5.25).

The XML file imported successfully and then I started a re-index of the search index. This made it to 72% and then the site when un-responsive before finally becoming unavailable

Our server admin has now tried restarting all the confluence services however the site is still unavailable.

Has anyone encountered this kind of issue before?

Yes, more than once.  What does the log file say is the problem?  (See <confluence home>/logs - there may be more than one file to look at in there)
