Removing users

In my original setup I created a confluence internal user called Mark and then connected a windows directory which also had the user mark in it.

I then realized when I tried to login with the directory user it did not work but did with the password stored in the internal DB. Some how the internal user has combined with the directory user.

I want to delete the internal user so it always logins in with the directory user account but I can't. Because content is assigned to the user (eg. demo space) it will not delete.

How can i delete it as I do not want the internal mark user only the directory one.

Hi there,

When you have Multiple Directories in Confluence, whichever directory is listed first in the directory order is the one that will take priority when logging in.

So if you want all of your users to use their passwords in your Microsoft Directory then you want to make sure to list that one first.

I wouldn't recommend deleting the user, and in fact, Confluence won't allow it if they have any content. The best course of action here, besides reordering your directories, is to simply deactivate the user in your Internal Directory. This way, if you wish to keep your Internal Directory listed first, Confluence will default to the user's login in the Microsoft Directory since he is not active in the Internal Directory.
