Any unofficial way to change Portfolio for Jira fields by code?

I know that there is no official API for Portfolio for Jira fields yet and the there is a feture request in progress.

But until the official API comes, is there any other solution to write on Portfolio for Jira fields with code (from Jira triggers)?
