Anyway to export a space from cloud and restore it into an older version confluence server?

Question

I am wondering if there is a way to export a space from cloud and restore it into an older version confluence server? Upgrade can't happen soon but the user has a space on cloud will leave company soon and need to merge his space on cloud into our confluence server with a quicker and easier way if possible. Will UWC (Universal Wiki Converter) or other tools work for such case?

Other than the suggestion to use Word, you can have a look at the other options from here:

Import Content into Confluence Cloud

You can also give Confluence universal importer a try if you have your files as .html or .docx from Confluence.

Thank you so much for your answer, Shannon.

We are planning to upgrade our confluence server to the latest. Once upgrade completes, I should be able to import the cloud export into 6.5 version confluence server with no problem. But the upgrade won't happen too soon. We are trying to bring only one space from cloud to confluence server as the user own the space on cloud will leave the company very soon. So given a short period of time, any other ways than export/import method or 3rd party tools (say UWC - Universal Wiki Converter etc) that may able to help for our special needs if you know of any? Thanks in advance.

Hi Liu,

It is not possible to import a space into an earlier version of Confluence, as you can see in our Restoring a Space documentation.

You can't import into an earlier version of Confluence.

For example, if you export a space from Confluence 5.9, you can't import it into Confluence 5.5.

If your export is from Confluence Cloud, you can only import it into Confluence 6.0 or later.

One way you can workaround that is to export the individual pages to a Word document and then import those pages individually again into the server. You will need to do this individually, though, since Word export is only possible on single pages. Please also note you will lose some Confluence formatting and macros this way since you're not retaining the original formatting of the XML.
