I need to download Jira software server v7.2.7 to setup test instance on, local machine to perform project migration to a production server with version 7.3.6. My thinking is this * Setup a machine for jira which runs 7.2.7 and restore projects from source backup. * Upgrade test instance to 7.3.6, use project configurator to export needed projects * use project configurator to import into the production environment. My questions are, how to download and install a specific version of jira and how to upgrade to a specific version? There's a link to the archives on the "download jira" page, but you now have to click through a few pages before you get to the useful one - https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/download-archives

Installing and upgrading them is covered in the docs, please start with them as they will take you through most, if not all of it.

You can use your development licence more than once, it will work fine on all your test setups.

Your approach is already the one I'd advise!

As other's have mentioned there is an archive download link of https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/download-archives

But this archive only contains Jira 6.x and previous versions at this time. The Jira 7 versions you are looking for are not found there at the moment.

Instead you can actually find that version on the standard download page for Jira. If you go to https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/update

and then click the View all versions link there, you can then select the menu in the bottom left of the popup in order to choose other Jira Software 7 versions to download, including 7.2.7.

As for the licenses, you can generate a developer license for any commercial license you have, except starter licenses. You can do this by going to https://my.atlassian.com

The license agreement doesn't allow you to install the same license to different instances at the same time. So using the developer license here should be fine. If that doesn't work, then generating a 30 day eval license could also be done at https://my.atlassian.com for this purpose.

You can find all released versions of JIRA from this Atlassian Site (all Atlassian Products have a similar page). https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/download-archives

A purchased commercial license comes with a single Development license that can be used on multiple servers. If there are issues with a server that is using a development license then you won't receive support as this is not your Production Server.

As far as upgrading JIRA from one version to the next you will need to make sure that you upgrade from your minor version to a major followed by the minor version. In your instance, install v7.2.7 on the new server, import backup, upgrade to 7.3.6.

Ack, sorry, scratch that, I forgot they changed it and made it less useful.

Go to the downloads page instead (https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/core/download for Core for example), click on the link for other versions, then "view all versions", then you have to click on the totally unintuitive 7.0 to get a drop-down with the 7.x versions listed.
