The instructions to connect to a database can be found at Connecting JIRA applications to a database. You can choose other JIRA versions from the selector to ensure you're using the correct database version for your install.
If you have already chosen the internal H2 Database follow the instructions in JIRA How to migrate from HSQL database to an external database to switch the database to a supported database.
