When a user is not the assignee on a ticket and someone else uses an @reference for that person there is a notification sent to the mentioned user (in our downloaded instance subject is "[JIRA] JohnDoe mentioned you (JIRA)"). However, if that user is the assignee, there is no additonal notice (just the notice that assignee and watchers get whenever there's an update).
Is that intentional? or is there a way to configure our JIRA instance to avoid?
I can see the thinking behind it if its intentional – if the user owns a ticket they're expected to be monitoring it regularly, but in practice if tickets are autoassigned, there's periods where that user has a huge volume of tickets and so may be blocking or avoiding the updates notices...in our case we use email rules to surface the "mentioned you" to our inboxes and route the routine notices elsewhere. We'd love to be able to always see the mentioned notice even if we own the ticket.
