Unknown attachment after saving a page

Question

We are trying to uplaod attachments to our confluence installation. When we upload a pdf file for example we get a preview of the pdf file in the editor but as soon as we are publishing the page, only an "unknown attachment" (in german its "Unbekannter Anhang", not sure what its called in english) symbol is visible to us.

As we start editing the page again we can hover the cursor above the unknown attachment and the files name is displayed correctly.

This happens not only with pdfs but with every other file, too.

Hello,

thank you for your fast reply. We found out, that the problem occurs whenever we upload a file which name includes special characters "äöü". Might be interesting for other germans (Or for other locations which use those characters).

For now we stick to using ae, ue, oe...

Try to upload the pdf directly from your local storage device and see if it still happens. Linking from other Confluence pages can sometimes be problematic.

You could also try to create a new page with nothing on it and try to upload the file. This test could rule out any other macro on the page possibly interfering.
