Export spaces and attachments

My confluence server has failed and i need to recover all of its content. Because I cant access the server through a browser only by ssh/ftp, is there a way to "export" all of the spaces/pages/attachments/etc" so that I can "import/move" it to a new confluence server?

We have two approaches available for this situation. Confluence automatically backs up everything except user installed plugins nightly by default in the <confluence_home>/backups directory. However, it's not an ideal strategy for a Production backup so it is frequently disabled.

If your database is not accessible to back up then Approach 1 is the best bet. Add-ons will have to be reinstalled after the restore.

Approach 1 is:

1. Retrieve the above mentioned backup file
2. Install the same version of Confluence the backup came from
3. Restore the backup through the UI
4. Install all user installed add-ons

Approach 2 is:

1. backup the elements described in Production Backup Strategy, basically the <confluence_home> and the database itself
2. install Confluence and point it at the backed up Home and DB as described in detail in Migrating Confluence Between Servers
