In the default project board (Not Agile/Kanban board), how can I view the subtasks? It is difficult to manage when we have sub-tasks created under the tasks from the board
The board is probably set to base its Swimlanes on Stories.
Change the Swimlanes to not be based on Stories in order to make your subtasks viewable in the board.
