Does hard reset save space in repo?

Question

I accidently pushed some files to the repo that were supposed to be tracked with LFS and now my repo has exceeded the 2 GB limit and has become read only.

Can I do a hard reset to the commit before this and push the changes to repo? Will that free up space in my repo and bring it back to read-write?
